What I'm Up To
So this summer I got a camp counsellor job at Pearce Williams Christian Centre. While there I have no computer so this blog has become rather blank recently. But, just because I can't blog, doesn't mean I'm not taking pictures. I was away for 10 days, and took 887 photos. 887! So to let you know that I still have you guys in my mind, here's a few samples of what I've been doing. Although most of my photos are of people, and these are landscap-ish, it's only because A tree won't complain about you putting their picture on your blog.

A is for Anarchy
I don't know what's with this anarchy theme I seem to be on, but I assure you, when I was biking home from old East at 6 in the morning last Sunday, I did not have anarchistic thoughts on my mind. Most of my thoughts were more like "Where is everybody?!" "Did I miss the rapture or something?". I went straight through two of the most densely populated areas of the city, Downtown and Wortley Village, and saw NOBODY. That freaked me out, so I decided to travel by the bike paths a bit. I saw this barbed wire, which looked odd to me, because it was guarding a factory, and it didn't sit right with me. So, I made this photo, with that in mind, and the dramatic sunburst over the telephone pole, as my theme. I had a really hard time deciding what would be parallel to the frame, the telephone pole or the fence. I realized that having it adjusted to the telephone pole put it at odds with the fence, and I liked it. Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Sorry to All
Sorry everybody, I'm in the middle of exams and so therefore have been unable to blog very much. For now you'll have to enjoy this poster that I found the other day. This isn't to say that I agree with the opinions stated therein but I do respect those that are able to state their views so publicly.Thursday, June 17, 2010
Film!
Ok, everybody, the good news is here. I am back working in film! I had a little venture into the wonders of film around New Years with my dad's old Pentax Asahi but, because of its sticky shutter, a photo I took of the olympic torch ended up exposing for about 5 months. Two nights ago, it unstuck! So (providing it didn't trash the entire roll of film) I am back in business. in fact I am nearly finished my first roll of film already. Now to see whether or not it's any good!Note: So my first roll of film snapped in the camera. When I opend the back to get it, it was all destroyed. It's ok. On to roll two!

Creativity Bootcamp Day 0: Freedom

OK, I'm done. Creativity Bootcamp was fun for a while. But it's getting ridiculous. If you are enjoying it, please don't let me affect you, but I personally am done. Ironically, it's stifling my creativity. It opened me up to a few new things and I'd like to explore them a little further. For example, I've been doing more work with sinking flowers. I made both these photos the other night and I'm relatively happy with them. The only problem I'm running into is the focus. It's hard to focus through glass and a few inches of water. Even manually I'm having difficulty. Regardless, this post was just to let all of you know that I am done. I did the first week, and thus far the second week has been fruitless. So I'm finished. For now. Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Creativity Bootcamp Days 7&8: Fly & Ornament
Creativity Bootcamp Day 7/8
I'm starting to feel as if these are getting, not only more difficult, but less logical. They are open to creative inspiration, but it's becoming more and more difficult to find something that isn't either blatantly obvious or inartistic. I took both of these yesterday, not thinking about the task at all, just randomly. I had difficulty deciding for "Ornament" (Which technically does apply fyi, because an 'Ornament' by definition, is something
that lends itself to beauty or grace. I think a flower applies.) because I had two very similar photos. One in which the focus is on the camera (above) and one where the focus is on the flower. Aesthetically I liked this one more. The photograph for 'Fly' is much less artistic and really was just used so I can get caught up on the Creative bootcamp. These two were for Saturday/Sunday.
