Photo of the Day: Princess Portrait

Today's adorable photo of the day is a portrait I took a few days ago (as a Mothers Day gift) of a friend of mine. I originally set up the portrait session with a few lamps and a screen for background, but I realized that it looked very unnatural so I opted for absolute sunlight instead. Since it was midday the sun light (unfortunately) was very white/blue instead of a preferred warmer orange/yellow lighting (that you could find closer to sunrise or sunset). Beyond that, the pose (which was mostly her idea, I just offered the flower) is absolutely priceless. Personally, I love it.

The Photography Show to End All Photography Shows

So in 11 days Henry's (one of the, if not the, biggest photography stores in North America) is having their semi-annual Photographic, Video, and Digital Imaging show. It will be epic. I, along with my sister and a few school friends (hopefully) will be attending for sure. If you're into photography, even just casually, it's a must-see event. Some of the highlights are a lens gallery, some fantastic seminars, and a clearance area that is pretty awesome. I seriously urge you, if you're into photography, go. You won't regret it.

Photo of the Day: Whirl

Bonjour. The photo for V:V:MMX is this. The ride you see is a part of Western Fair, which takes place every August in London. I took it with my little Canon Elph, a great camera (for a point&shoot). Although I didn't quite recognize it at the time, the colours turned out great, and the sunset behind was of a similar colour set to the actual ride. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Enough so, that I entered in a contest recently through Henry's. We'll see how that turns out at Henry's upcoming Photography show. For now, it's yours to enjoy.

Photo of the Day: Musician's View

My photo of the day is one I took a few months ago at my church. This is the organ pipes and the convex mirror the organist uses to view the church. I tried to use the symmetry of the pipes to contrast against the slight defects in the mirror that cause the warp in the mirror. My only regret is that I had to take the photo when no one was in the church, because if you could see the congregation I believe it would enhance the slight warp in the reflection. Aside from that, I am very happy with this photo.

Photo of the Day: Flower Power

Good morning. I took this Photo of the Day a little while back while I was on a walk with a few friends. Aside from the marketing potential, the main theme for this photo is the contrast within the photo of the wild and urban. With the sky, and the trees representing the wild, and the sign and the street representing the urban aspect. I would have liked to wait longer to find a better angle for compositional reasons. Alas, it is how it is, and I'm happy with that, for now.
