Photo of the Day: Sight

OK, so first of all, I know this isn't of the same caliber as my previous photos of the day, but I wanted to show you something else. This is slightly above the average photo I make on an average day. I took it today; actually about 2 hours ago, at Victoria Hospital. I enjoy this one, don't get me wrong, but I know that artistically, it's not much. It's mildly amusing, because of the image and the composition has a shred of potential to it. That's all. The photos I showed earlier, were made with a LOT of luck. And I don't want you to have the impression that I do that sort of thing all the time. I don't, most of my photos look like this.

A Study of Strobe Photography...with Pokemon

My latest stroke of genius left me with this set of photos. I took a few old toys, a common desk lamp, a black binder, and my Rebel T1i, and made some pretty cool photos. So, in the photo to the right, there is only one Charmander. Only one. I'll tell you the process and it will make more sense. I turned off all the lights, set my camera to a very low F-stop, and a very long shutter speed. Then I set up the toy, and opened the shutter. While it was open I flashed the light on for a few seconds, turned it off, and moved the toy. Then I flashed the light again. So the camera recorded the light from the Charmander in multiple positions but not in between those positions (which would create blur). I also played around with using the lamp to create multiple 'strobes' from different directions. With this I was able to give the subject selective lighting or absolute lighting. There is more to come, believe me.

Cleverbot is Terrifying

A website I found, Cleverbot. Really interesting. It's an artificial intelligence that learns from each conversation it has. It has some odd speech patterns but for the most part just responds in a clever (ish) way. Amusing to say the least. Be warned, it's learned a lot from teenagers, so there's some swearing. http://www.cleverbot.com/

Fireworks Collage

Photo of the Day: Not In Service

This photo is one I took last year with my little Canon Elph. It was taken in colour, and then changed into b&w except for the sign in a very crude form of photoshop. I used this photo a few times during the LTC bus strike because it seemed to fit really well. The story behind it is actually pretty amusing. Myself and a few friends were waiting for a bus and after an hour it still hadn't come. We saw it coming, and the stop before it got to us, it changed to 'Not In Service.' So I grabbed my camera.

Photo of the Day: Wet Light

Photo o' the day today is Wet Light; a title I'm not so happy with. But hey, everybody has an uncreative day. I took this during the winter with my (beautiful) Canon Rebel T1i. The effect with the water droplets (actually melted snow) was the car windowpane collecting moisture. Although it certainly seems so, the photo wasn't actually taken in sepia tones, that was the exact light from the streetlight. I really enjoy the photograph as a whole. I hope you do too.
